If chilled out, groove infused hip-hop is your thing then DeQuince is for you. Based in Pomona, CA, this solo artist is on a well-planned out mission to share his music with the World, and he was up for chatting to us about how exactly he's going to do so.

DeQuince

Who is Dequince?

DeQuince is producer/artist from Pomona, CA who embodies everything from within his neighbourhood, good and bad, by venting it through his music. I really like music that can help people get through things whether the message is deep or simplistic, if a person can relate to it I can make a song about it.

Who are your biggest influences and inspirations?

I have so many influences but the biggest and most noticeable is probably Outkast. I get inspiration from life, so anything I've been through or seen, I like to write about, but sometimes it can just stem from a small conversation with a stranger, I mean you can learn a little something from everyone.

You've recently released your new single 'Change', how has the response been so far?

The response has been great and I appreciate it a lot. I've just been trying to step everything up everytime I drop a song or video and also to be consistent.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is kind of hard to describe, I guess you can say laid back but I also have songs on my album that have faster tempos and sonically are different to show that I am diverse but it's all natural, I'm not into riding waves or copying what everyone else is doing because I'm in it for the long run.

What's the aim?

The aim is to continue growing with my music and to reach a bigger audience without compromising who I am. I think the reason why people enjoy it now is because I'm being myself and it's 100% real, and I just want to be able to make a career via doing just that, but on a bigger scale.

What's next for Dequince?

A lot more visuals coming soon so expect a lot of new music and I'll also just be trying to branch out with other artists/producers, I'm always willing to work. Also I'll continue doing more shows, I really enjoy performing more than anything and I feel like that's the most important part so if you're a fan of the music come out and see how passionate I am.
