RADAR: The Jackobins - Hasty - Reviewed
Liverpool indie rock band The Jackobins’ new single ‘Hasty’ is full of energy and swagger. It is a stormer of a track with a great chorus and all the qualities of a rock anthem.
The beat is retro on this whirlwind of a song, with echoes of the 80s in the intro. The band have built both their reputation and expertise over the past few years. The quieter section showcases Dominic Bassnett’s outstanding vocals. The Jackobins know how to build on their excellent live show in the studio. Hasty is meaty enough to really bite without sacrificing the quality sound The Jackobins are known for. This track is one of their best so far and has an electric urgency to it. Although some of their tracks veer more towards the pop end of indie, Hasty brings them firmly back towards indie rock. They started with excellent tracks like ‘Prussia’, although the rough edge of the early songs has now vanished. Hasty is a welcome, rip-roaring return to former glories.
